Richard is an RYA Examiner, Yachtmaster Ocean Instructor, and Yachting Australia Yachtmaster Ocean Instructor. He also holds Australian commercial power boat qualifications. He has a background in corporate management and training in Australia and has many years of  experience in sea kayaking and SCUBA diving instruction.

After years of sailing as a hobby Richard turned his passion into a career and now sails for a living. After 12 years of offshore racing and cruising his most recent achievement was to skipper the Singapore entry in the 05/06 Clipper Round The World Yacht Race.

Richard currently spends his time between the UK and Australia as well as travelling around the world to skipper many of our race entries.

An RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Instructor Examiner, Andy has over 25 years sailing experience around the world, and a wealth of knowledge about training gathered through many years of hands on instructing. Andy is also qualified as a power boat instructor and dinghy instructor, as well as holding the Yachting Australia Ocean Yachtmaster Instructor ticket.

When he is not busy training here in the UK Andy is running one of many race campaigns in some exotic location around the world.

After a successful career in industry Tim made the move to professional sailing in 2003.

Having spent several years gaining a wide array of experience and many RYA qualifications Tim joined the Global Yacht Training team officially in September 2007. Over the next 12 months Tim will act as full time skipper on our Beneteau 47.7 undertaking training roles as well as race skippering.

As an RYA instructor Tim is looking forward to his year of instructing offshore and overseas programmes before rejoining us in the UK for summer 2008.

Instructor/computer admin

Jonathan’s IT background proves invaluable for the admin tasks he performs for the Global Yacht Training office. However he still spends plenty of time on the water and in the classroom training the next generation of sailors.

Claire is an RYA Yachtmaster and keen racing sailor, and loves nothing more than competing in offshore classics like the Sydney Hobart and Fastnet. Claire has sailed in all the training locations Global Yacht Training use and has a wealth of knowledge about the RYA, and where your qualifications can take you.

Administration Officer

Newest member of our crew Rachelle Lunness is our Administration Officer.  Originally from North London but moved out of the rat race to the Isle of Wight. She is keen to join the Yachting world and learn all there is to know about this way of life. Rachelle run’s all the admin functions of the business and her smiling face is the first one you will see when you come to visit us!
